New Tour Program – Phoenix Sky Harbor

Phoenix Sky Harbor will begin to offer fun free tours of America’s Friendliest Airport that individuals, families, and groups can attend.  These pre-scheduled guided tours will familiarize participants with the airport and learn about the improvements that are taking place.  For more information or details about the tours, please review the flier below that is attached to this message, or visit the following link:

Sidewalk fix is landowner’s responsibility

Be aware of how you or others treat the sidewalk in front of your house!  If it ever needs replacing, it will be your responsibility.

If someone gets hurt because of an unsafe sidewalk, the property owner is responsible for claims filed against the city.
If homeowners do the sidewalk repair themselves, it must be inspected and meet city specifications.

DUNKIN’ DONUTS CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL PAY IT FORWARD DAY

Dunkin’ Donuts Restaurants offer Free Parking, Donuts and Cups of Coffee

International Pay It Forward Day is Saturday, April 28, and to celebrate, Phoenix area Dunkin’ Donuts locations are launching a pay it forward-inspired program called “Sip a Cup, Share a Cup”.  From April 28th – May 27th (or while supplies last), all guests who purchase any size coffee at participating Dunkin’ Donuts Restaurants will receive a special Free Coffee Card. Guests are encouraged to pass the card along to “pay it forward,” covering the cost of someone’s next coffee.

Additionally, on Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28, Dunkin’ Donuts will be paying it forward with free parking in select downtown Phoenix and Tempe locations for commuters, tourists and students, as well as passing out free donuts and coffee at the Phoenix Central and Tempe Mill light rail stations each morning.

Dunkin’ Donuts’ popular hot and iced coffees include three unique blends sourced from 100% Arabica beans from around the world; seven different options for flavor shots and four different flavor swirls. Dunkin’ Donuts sells more than 1.9 billion cups of hot and iced coffee globally every year.

International Pay It Forward Day is celebrated in more than 80 countries with the goal of creating a ripple effect of kindness. The idea is that small acts, when multiplied by millions of people across the globe, can literally change the world. For this year’s international Pay It Forward Day, the goal is to inspire more than 10 million acts of kindness.

Pay It Forward Suggestions:

  1. Pay for someone’s coffee
  2. Get the next person in line’s food, groceries, gas, etc.
  3. Give flowers or thank you card
  4. Help someone in need
  5. Give time/money to local charity

Text to 911

The Maricopa Association of Governments and Maricopa Region 9-1-1, working cooperatively with members of the disability community, identified a solution to purchase the system necessary to make Text to 9-1-1 a reality. The system was purchased in August 2017 and members of the 9-1-1 community have been trained over the last several months. Scottsdale is pleased to announce to its residents that this valuable service is now available for anyone with a cellular phone with text messaging capabilities.

“CALL IF YOU CAN, TEXT IF YOU CAN’T” is the message for text to 9-1-1. Calling is always the best option when possible, as voice calls allow the 91-1 operator to more quickly ask questions and obtain information from the caller. Users of text to 9-1-1 include individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, those with a speech impairment, victims of domestic violence, and victims that are concerned about being heard on the phone by an assailant.

Text to 9-1-1 is still in its infancy, and there are some limitations at this time. For instance, the texter will need to enter their location for the 9-1-1 operator as location is not available yet. 9-1-1 cannot be part of a group text. Also, there is no language translation service for text to 9-1-1. All of these will be improved upon in the future.

We are proud to be able to offer a new level of service for those needing it in Maricopa County.
